Music therapy is a clinical and evidence-based health profession. Music is used as a tool within the context of a therapeutic relationship to address the emotional, cognitive, physical and social needs of an individual. Some common interventions include creating, singing, listening to, and/or moving to music. Music Therapy often provides opportunities for communication and self expression for individuals who may find it difficult to express themselves in words. Music interventions are most commonly designed to promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication, and/or promote physical rehabilitation. In working with children or adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs, Music Therapy is a fun and interactive way to establish communication and work on goals set for the individual through assessment from the music therapist. Music creates a natural connection between people which helps to facilitate change and growth in people. Here, at MSC Kyle's Sports for Special Needs new music therapy program, we aspire to help children within the community
